About the Artwork:
I painted The Big Empty during the first year of the pandemic. I had this very surreal moment in the middle of summer where I was walking along the lakefront. I stopped and stared out into the vast waters and it hit me that there wasn’t a single person in sight; no people, no boats, no life of any kind. It was beautiful and tragic all at the same time.
