About the Artwork
If you have ever lost someone close to you, this painting may resonate. After my love and life partner passed away in December of 2024, I have felt as if time has stood still for me, while the rest of the world seems to be going about its business. Most days it’s hard to just get up and breathe. I get anxiety in large crowds and places where there is a lot of movement. Interestingly enough to the average person who doesn’t know my story, I think I seem fine. I can somehow control my emotions on the outside while still wanting to cry and scream on the inside.
In Stillness is a piece that I created to escape our world for a while; to be in a place that is vast and calm, a place without noise and chaos. As I work through my grief and try to comprehend what has happened, the hows and the whys, I have come to realize that what I need most right now is space and time to be alone in my thoughts. As I return and study the finished painting, I feel that both the mood and energy are captured beautifully and subtly, just as I had imagined it.
