About the Artwork
This painting was inspired by one of my walks along Burnham Harbor in Chicago. Across the inlet lies Northerly Island Park, which was the focus of land in this piece. On this particular day, the skies were dark and stormy, and the lake was a combination of aquas and brilliant blues. It seemed like a magical moment that I wanted to capture on canvas. I find it fascinating that I’ve walked along this same path over a hundred times, and each time I see something new, something beautiful and wonderous that wasn’t there yesterday.
