About the Artwork

In the summer of 2021, two of my best girlfriends and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Croatia and Montenegro. We ended up having the time of our lives, taking in the beautiful old cities, driving along the coast, island hopping, renting a private boat with a skipper for a day to explore the Adriatic Sea, and so much more. On our way from Dubrovnik to Split, we hired a driver to take us north along the coast. Our driver was a great tour guide; a chatty sort of guy with a pleasant personality. One could feel his deep passion and pride for his country. He stopped along the way so that we could take pictures and take in all the beauty.

This painting is inspired by my photos from that particular day. I started this painting a few years ago and for some reason, life got busy, and it sat idle for a long while. Recently, after suffering a tragic loss of the most special person in the world to me, I felt this strong urge to finish unfinished things. This is the first of those things. Perhaps I am searching for memories of happier times, perhaps finishing things that were left unfinished is a way of helping me deal with my grief. Whatever the reason, I am happy to be able to share my story with you of this beautiful memory.
